Launched this year, Founders Classical Academy of Schertz is celebrating its opening with a ribbon cutting on November 1 at 10:00 a.m. with Senator Donna Campbell in attendance. The event will take place at the school: 8453 E. 1518 N., Schertz, TX 78154.
Founders Classical Academy of Schertz is a free public charter school with 332 students currently enrolled in grades K-7. The school will eventually expand to a K-12 by adding a grade each year. The school offers a classical liberal arts curriculum with a focus on virtue-based character education and American civics.
Nathanael Rea, formerly Assistant Headmaster at Founders Classical Academy of Lewisville, serves as the school’s Headmaster.
“This first year has been very exciting. It has been delightful to see the students embracing the school’s culture and academics as well as the excitement of parents. It is very heartening to have parents and students who want to come to school,” said Mr. Rea.
Since ResponsiveEd was able to purchase an existing school building, the school has the immediate benefit of a gym, large classrooms, a kitchen and land to expand.
ResponsiveEd started its first Founders Classical Academy in Lewisville, TX in 2012 through a partnership with Hillsdale College. The school has grown to 850 students, and parent interest that has led to the opening of six schools in Texas and one in Arkansas.
Founders Classical Academy of Schertz is ResponsiveEd’s first college preparatory school in San Antonio. The charter operator has more than 70 schools in Texas and Arkansas with more than 20,000 students enrolled.
