ResponsiveEd opened a new Premier High School in Edinburg on October 5 with a focus on Career and Technical Education. The school offers four CTE pathways: Health Science; Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security; Arts, A/V Technology and Communications; and Business, Marketing, and Finance.  ResponsiveEd’s Director of Career and Technical Education, Victor Jones, explains the four career clusters from which students can choose.

Jones said Health Science is the one of the top areas of interests for students seeking a certification and choice of career path while Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security is a close second.

“Our goal for students who select the Health Science cluster is for them to obtain one to four certifications as they advance through the program. With the Public Safety cluster, the strong presence of Border Patrol is a tangible outcome that students can relate their studies to and it makes their learning of policies and procedures relevant and a career in this field obtainable,” he said.

The Arts, A/V Technology and Communications as well as Business, Marketing and Finance, career clusters provide students with success on a local and global level.

“The cluster addresses the growing interests in media, music, computers and production by providing students the opportunity to expand their understanding  of media components, programs, and applications through technological resources supporting their creativity,” said Mr. Jones.

Mr. Jones says the clusters will provide students with the necessary tools for success on a global platform.

“Students will discover the best tools to understand and market products and services while learning the dynamics of the national and global economy, business markets and trends, and of course, the confidence to package and present these services worldwide,” said Mr. Jones.
